Data Analyst, BHL

Trish Rose-Sandler works at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St Louis, Missouri, where she is part of the BHL Technical Team. In her role as data analyst, she has been responsible for transforming and loading digitized content; establishing BHL’s metadata standards and documentation; writing functional specifications for the administrative and user services needed for BHL systems; and helping design and conduct usability tests.

Since 2012 she has served as the principal investigator for two BHL-related grant projects – The Art of Life and Purposeful Gaming and BHL and is involved in a third BHL-related grant project – Mining Biodiversity.

Rose-Sandler holds dual degrees – MLS, Library Science and MA, Art History, both from Indiana University, Bloomington. Her professional interests include making digitized content more accessible so it can repurposed and recontextualized. She closely follows advances in linked open data principles, crowdsourcing content descriptions, gamification interfaces, and data visualization.

She has also held leadership roles in data standards work through her involvement in the VRA Core 4.0 data standard, first as a member of the Core 4.0 development team (2006-2007), then Co-Chair of the Data Standards Committee of the Visual Resources Association (2007-2010); and more recently as Co-Chair of the VRA Core 4.0 Oversight Committee (2010-present).
