The Biodiversity Heritage Library improves research methodology by collaboratively making biodiversity literature openly available to the world as part of a global biodiversity community.
BHL also serves as the literature component of the Encyclopedia of Life .

Program Manager, BHL

Carolyn Sheffield is the Program Manager for the Biodiversity Heritage Library, an open access digital library consortium of natural history and botanical libraries. She manages day-to-day operations for the consortium and coordinates internal communications between the BHL Secretariat, Technical Team, Members and Affiliates. Prior to joining BHL, Carolyn was the Project Manager for the Field Book Project and she continues to serve as an advisor on that project, fostering a continuing collaboration and facilitating the integration of archival field note collections into BHL. She also takes a leading role in BHL's collaborations with other partner organizations such as the Encyclopedia of Life.

Carolyn holds an MLS from the University of Maryland at College Park and a BA in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
